The Gunners were cruising to win at one point, leading 2-0. However, Leicester City mounted a spectacular comeback to tie the game at 2-2, and it appeared like they would secure an unexpected point.
However, two late goals in stoppage time clinched the draw for Arsenal. Leandro Trossard seemed to score the third goal, which was ruled an own goal, and Kai Havertz scored in the ninth minute of stoppage time to deprive the Foxes a point.
The Gunners’ Gabriel Martinelli started the scoring, and Trossard added the second goal.
Rio Ferdinand was immensely delighted with Trossard and thought he was “worth every penny”.
Arsenal purchased Trossard from Brighton for £27 million in 2023, and he has shown to be an excellent addition to Mikel Arteta’s team.
Rio told BBC Sports, “What a buy Leandro Trossard was! It’s worth every cent. A fantastic day if it ends like this.
“Who would have thought Arsenal could score from a set piece? Arsenal simply kept believing. It’s a lucky goal, and ‘lucky Arsenal’ is a good label to have.”
