Bruno Guimaraes has released a statement in reaction to the noteworthy information that came to light this week regarding Newcastle United.
Newcastle’s co-owners, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley, are planning to leave the football team. The duo has been involved behind the scenes and was crucial to the takeover process, which was finally completed in October 2021.
The announcement of their exit comes after repeated investments by RB Sports & Media and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia caused Staveley’s share price to drop from 10% to 5.7% since the merger. The remaining co-owners will take on the remaining part, with PIF and RB Sports & Media increasing their stakes to 85% and 15%, respectively.
One of the most important purchases made during the first transfer window under the new ownership was Guimaraes in January 2022. Since arriving at St James’ Park for £40 million from Lyon, Guimaraes has grown to be a beloved player by the locals and one of Newcastle’s best players in the contemporary age.
After 107 games for the team, he has 17 goals.
Additionally, Guimaraes thanked Staveley and Ghodoussi on Instagram after learning of their departure.
Guimaraes thanked both people for their services to the club and expressed his sadness at the news. “I still have my doubts about its validity.”
“I appreciate you encouraging me to join the club, and I hope the future holds the best for you.” I will always be appreciative to @mehrdadghodoussi and @amandastaveley.
Due to his involvement in the Copa America with Brazil, Guimaraes will have a break before starting preseason training again. This week, the Newcastle players returned to their training regimens. Guimaraes took part in every game for his country until they were defeated in the quarterfinals by Uruguay on penalties.
