Pep Guardiola responded to a question about Manchester City’s rumored interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe with a sarcastic remark.
According to sources, Mbappe has made the decision to depart from PSG during the upcoming summer. Sources in Spain indicate that the French player has already finalized a contract with Real Madrid. According to another rumor, it is possible that the City Football Group directly talked with Mbappe’s representatives. This led to a question being asked to Guardiola during his news conference before the Premier League match against Brentford.
When questioned about his opinion on Mbappe as a player, Guardiola playfully avoided revealing any information about a potential transfer for the Frenchman.
“I believe he possesses considerable skill,” the City manager expressed with a smile. “He possesses great potential for success in the future.” He is exceptionally skilled.
The Blues are already planning for the upcoming summer transfer window, including a potential acquisition of Savio, a winger from Troyes who is presently on loan at Girona, another club affiliated with the City Football Group. Their transfer activity will, as always, be contingent on the departure of players, and it is not believed that Erling Haaland will be one of them, despite having spent only two seasons at the Etihad.
Haaland is currently under contract with City until 2027. He has scored 73 goals and provided 15 assists in 80 games for the team. Madrid has been consistently associated with Haaland in the future, as the Norwegian’s representatives have expressed his willingness to explore opportunities in various leagues and his determination to establish himself. Nevertheless, Haaland is content in Manchester, and if Mbappe were to sign with the Bernabeu, it may provide both clubs with a clear understanding of their offensive choices in the long term.
Julian Alvarez, a striker for City, is also rumored to be connected with Real Madrid, considering he is a World Cup champion. Nevertheless, it is improbable that he will depart from the Etihad.
