Jamal Musiala, who is being pursued by Manchester City, has allegedly rejected a new contract offer from Bayern Munich in order to pursue a transfer to the Premier League.
City and Liverpool are considered to be the top contenders for Musiala. Both English teams recently dispatched scouts to observe the German national player in action against Bayer Leverkusen.
During that period, Bayern had made a £150,000-a-week contract offer for midfielder Musiala, which was still available for consideration. However, it appears that he has informed the Bundesliga giants that he will not be signing the contract, which has led to speculation that he will depart the club in July.
The city became aware of that decision last week and are increasingly confident in their ability to secure the much sought-after Musiala, who recently celebrated his 21st birthday. However, Liverpool is not the sole English team attempting to disrupt Pep Guardiola’s intentions of acquiring the playmaker, who has represented Germany on 25 occasions.
Chelsea has a strong interest in reacquiring its former youth player. According to The Daily Star, they are anticipated to participate in the race immediately when the transfer window opens at the conclusion of the season.
Nevertheless, unless they secure a spot in the Europa League by triumphing in the FA Cup, the Blues have a limited probability of persuading Musiala to choose Stamford Bridge instead of the Etihad or Anfield. Musiala, who is currently with Bayern, has a remaining contract duration of two years. Acquiring him would require a minimum payment of £80m, in addition to his anticipated weekly salary of approximately £200,000.
Thomas Tuchel, the current manager of Bayern, will be departing from the club at the end of the season. This departure has the potential to influence Musiala’s future.
