The most recent transfer news involving Liverpool, who have been vying for the defender but seem to be leading the pack.
The legendary Zinedine Zidane of Real Madrid has reportedly urged that his squad complete a summer transfer for Lille defender Leny Yoro, with the Spanish powerhouses defeating Liverpool in the process.
The 18-year-old, who made 32 appearances for Lille in Ligue 1 last season, is among the most sought-after young defenders in Europe this summer. The player’s desire to transfer to the Bernabeu has put Real Madrid in the driver’s seat, albeit the Reds were among the teams expressing interest in him.
Yoro is rumoured to have made Real Madrid aware of his plans to go, but the two teams’ inability to agree on a fee is reportedly the current roadblock. Real is reportedly only willing to spend as much as €40 million (£33.8m), while Lille has reportedly set their asking price at €60 million (£50.7m).
According to the most recent sources, Lille is prepared to lower their asking price to €50 million (£42.2 million). Even yet, there is still a difference in the two clubs’ assessments.
It is now said that Zidane has become embroiled in the Yoro issue. In a meeting with club president Florentino Perez, the French icon reportedly approved of a move for the defender (defensacentral).
According to additional sources, Zidane even went so far as to advise Perez that he needed to make sure the adolescent showed up at the club this summer. The former manager and player is rumoured to think he can have an instant impact on the first team.
Liverpool will be keeping a careful eye on the situation. The Reds may move if the two teams are unable to reach a mutual understanding.
