Breaking: Zinedine Zidane, the new manager of Manchester United, is currently working out hard with United players at Carrington. Fans of Manchester United, congratulations!
Emmanuel Petit, a fellow countryman, has endorsed Zinedine Zidane to accept the Man Utd position provided INEOS provides the assurances he need.
Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils have only won two of their first seven games in the Premier League, which is a dismal start to the season.
With only eight points and five goals, they are now in 14th place in the Premier League, further putting pressure on Manchester United manager Ten Hag to improve his team’s performance.
After discussing his future during INEOS’ prearranged monthly meeting last week, the Dutchman appears to have weathered the international break and is anticipated to lead against Brentford this weekend.
Prior to Ten Hag’s appointment, a number of names were floated in the media as possible replacements, including Thomas Frank, Eddie Howe, Max Allegri, Graham Potter, and new England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Over the past week or two, Zidane’s name has attracted some attention since, according to Spanish media, if he accepts the position of manager, he intends to sign Barcelona defender Jules Kounde as his first acquisition.
Petit, a former teammate from France, believes that if Zidane accepts the position at Manchester United, he will have been given assurances and “solutions” for any problems with the current club.
“I’m not sure that he speaks very good English as well,” Petit said to the Manchester Evening News. Additionally, it’s critical to communicate in the dressing room. To be honest, I have some knowledge about Zizou [Zidane], and if he wishes to sign with Manchester United, he must obtain assurances.
“The atmosphere at Manchester United has not been nice for years. The bench’s consistency, the players’ skill level, and the club’s expectations have all changed throughout time. Although not on the field anymore, United is still a very popular club.
And Zizou is extremely aware of and cautious about the players’ caliber. I’m not at all persuaded by the caliber of some of the players on the squad right now. He has answers if he accepts the position at Manchester United.
Petit’s remarks follow months after The Independent reported that former Real Madrid manager Zidane had private discussions with Manchester United co-owners INEOS.
Jean-Claude Blanc and Zinedine Zidane have maintained communication over the last few months. Blanc, the head of its sports division, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos have long admired the former Real Madrid manager. Naturally, Ineos wants to lead Manchester United to that kind of Champions League glory.
“This isn’t to say that Zidane will take over at Old Trafford in the summer, but the group is naturally maintaining that connection.”
