The midfielder responded cheekily to a message from the King before of Sunday’s Euro 2024 final against Spain, according to the most recent Chelsea news.
Cole Palmer of Chelsea answered with a clever comment to King Charles’ appeal to try and win Euro 2024 before needing a late winner or penalty shootout, adding that it’s better to leave it late.
Ollie Watkins’ goal in the ninetieth minute gave the Three Lions a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semifinals. On Sunday night, England will play Spain in the tournament championship. That triumph followed England’s penalty shootout victory over Switzerland to guarantee their spot in the last four.
King Charles III congratulated the team shortly after their victory over the Dutch. In the same statement, he asked them to attempt to finish the job early in the final to reduce the tension for the country’s spectators.
Following Wednesday night’s semi-final triumph, he released a statement saying, “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the UEFA European Championship-and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday’s match.”
The pressure on the country’s heart rate and blood pressure would definitely be reduced if I could urge you to win before the necessity for any dramatic last-minute goals or penalties arises!
“England, good luck.”
Palmer responded cheekily when questioned about the King’s request on England’s YouTube page. “It is better in the last minute though,” he replied simply.
Palmer was echoed by goal-scoring sensation Watkins, who stated, “A last-minute winner, or a penalty shootout, is way better than winning 2-0 or something.” “Even though I would prefer a 2-0 result, winning via penalties or a last-minute winner is preferable,”
The Aston Villa player also described the team’s interactions with Prince William, who watched the team’s victory over Switzerland via penalty shootout from the stands.
“Prince William entered; he enjoys attending the games. He gave us a small box with our shirt number and other pre-Euro information, and because we are now in the final, it is likely that he will return.
