Breaking News: Following an outstanding Premier League performance, Mykhailo Mudryk sends a strong message to Chelsea owner
After scoring the goal that ultimately decided Monday’s Premier League matchup between Newcastle and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Mykhailo Mudryk has sent a strong message to the Chelsea team. After Cole Palmer had put the Blues back ahead, Mauricio Pochettino brought the Ukraine international into the game after he had been named on the bench.
Palmer’s goal-bound shot was deftly touched by Nicolas Jackson to score the first goal, but Alexander Isak’s long-range effort for the visitors tied the score at the break. Palmer then added a quick goal of his own from the edge of the box, giving Chelsea some breathing room, before Mudryk finished the scoring.
The 23-year-old stole the ball from Conor Gallagher’s feet, danced through the Newcastle defense, and wrapped Martin Dubravka’s flailing arm before tucking it into an open net. Chelsea’s three-point victory was largely due to Mudryk’s goal, as Jacob Murphy’s late goal gave the Magpies hope.
“It was really good; he scored a really good goal, and we expect an impact from a player who came off the bench,” he remarked.
The next step is for him to compete against other players for the position that he deserves to play and is capable of playing. He should ask that question more than I should. Mudryk expressed his gratitude to Chelsea fans on Instagram following his sixth goal of the year.
Mudryk posted the following on a video of Stamford Bridge long after the game: “Big thanks fans for all your support, you help me get better [blue heart emoji].” Tuesday saw Mudryk post a compilation of his eye-catching 20-minute show on social media, with the caption, “Just another day at work.”
This weekend will see Chelsea return to action at Stamford Bridge as they take on Leicester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal. In the previous round against Leeds United, Mudryk started and scored, so it’s likely that he’ll be given another opportunity right away. If Chelsea wins, they’ll make it back to Wembley twice this season.
