The annual inclination of Bernardo Silva to depart from Manchester City has been duly observed by his fellow players, who playfully ridiculed the forward for his most recent transfer saga during the previous summer.
Ruben Dias, a friend and fellow countryman of Bernardo, has disclosed that City players have warmly greeted Bernardo at the beginning of the past three seasons by engaging in light-hearted banter over the transfer market. Bernardo has openly expressed his desire to depart from Manchester in favor of a sunnier location, nearer to his home country of Portugal.
Nevertheless, there has been no concrete action taken, as City is content with allowing players to depart only if appropriate offers are presented. Bernardo, having failed to reach a resolution over the previous summer, decided to sign a contract extension at the beginning of this season in order to solidify his commitment to City.
The City dressing room also responded well to this, although it was only after Dias spent the summer bantering with his friend that he knew Bernardo would always stay at the club.
“During a specific moment last summer, I entertained the possibility that he might depart. However, I consistently remind him that every summer we have a recurring event titled ‘Bernardo is going nowhere’,” Dias informed The National.
“I have been here for three summers now, and each year brings a new episode.” I was pleased when he signed because if one desires to achieve championships, Bernardo is precisely the type of player one requires in their vicinity.
Dias emphasized the significance of securing a long-term contract for Bernardo, his colleague. He described Bernardo as undervalued by the general public, but highly regarded within the City club.
“It would be biased for me to assess his abilities, as I am both Portuguese and have a unique bond with him.” However, setting that aside, he is a crucial asset for us primarily due to his exceptional intelligence,” Dias clarified.
