Scarcely any footballers would have the audacity to breach the barrier separating Manchester United and Manchester City.
While numerous individuals have played football for both teams, only a select few have made a direct transition between the two clubs. Denis Law and Carlos Tevez are the most prominent examples of players who directly switched from a red team to a sky blue team. However, in 2012, a young defender made the courageous choice to do the same.
The day marked the final deadline. since the summer transfer season was coming to an end, Frederic Veseli made the decision to seek a change, since he did not have a clear opportunity to join the first team on Manchester City’s side.
The talented defender had enjoyed a fruitful tenure of three and a half years at City, but desired to transfer to a club that offered a genuine chance for advancement. He had a close proximity.
“Currently, Manchester City is actively pursuing championships and significant accolades,” affirmed Adam Bouskouchi, his former agent. “They find it challenging to trust young people because they clearly believe that gaining experience is the most effective means for achieving their desired goals.” However, this mindset proved unhelpful for Freddie, as he experienced a sense of stagnation in his personal growth.
“Freddie engaged in discussions with multiple clubs, both domestically and internationally.” However, his aspiration is to become a prominent player in England, and the conversation with Sir Alex had a profound impact on him.
“He possesses a commanding presence that makes it challenging to refuse his requests, and his past achievements were sufficient for Freddie to have confidence in his decision to join United.”
United had previously attempted to get the highly-regarded defender, but, similar to numerous other prominent European teams, they were outmaneuvered by the Blues in securing his services. City greatly admired the precocious adolescent and reached a contractual agreement with Veseli before his participation with Switzerland at the Under-17 World Cup in 2009. It was a brilliant and strategic move.
The young individual would guide his nation of origin to triumph in the youth tournament. At the tender age of 16, he had already achieved the remarkable feat of becoming a captain who led his team to victory in the World Cup. However, any team interested in recruiting him had already lost the opportunity to do so.
