“I have never played against such dangerousy aggressive player before….He’s the best defender I’ve ever faced in my whole professional career” : Leicester City striker Jamie Verdy has named ONE Arsenal man as the finest defender in the world.
Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League after defeating Leicester City 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium Sunday.
Gabriel Martinelli started the scoring for the Gunners, and Leandro Trossard added the club’s second just before halftime.
James Justin put the Foxes back in the game with a headed goal and a stunning shot, but Arsenal got the last laugh at the Emirates.
Trossard made a difference in stoppage time. His attempted pass took a tremendous deflection from Wilfred Ndidi before finding the back of the net.
Kai Havertz scored the Gunners’ fourth goal in the final seconds.
Arsenal were magnificent in attack yesterday, and they might have easily won by a huge score.
Speaking after the own goal, Gunners icon Martin Keown praised Trossard, saying he was worth every cent for the club.
Keown told BBC Sport: “What a bargain Leandro Trossard was!” It’s worth every cent. A fantastic day if it ends like this.
“Who would have thought Arsenal could score from a set piece?
“Arsenal kept believing. It’s a lucky goal, and ‘lucky Arsenal’ is a good label to have.”
Trossard had a dismal performance against Manchester City last weekend. He was sent off before halftime for throwing the ball away following a foul.
He was then suspended for the Carabao Cup third round win against Bolton Wanderers, although he returned against Leicester City.
Trossard has impressed from the number 10 spot in Martin Odegaard’s absence, and he should be a reliable starter moving ahead.
Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and manager Mikel Arteta may choose the same starting lineup.
