Ollie Watkins played a pivotal role in Aston Villa’s 3-2 victory over Luton Town on Saturday, successfully defending against a strong second-half comeback.
Villa’s victory preserves their five-point advantage over Tottenham, who are currently in fifth position, in the intense competition for securing a spot in the Champions League.
Watkins asserted his dominance by scoring two goals in the first half, giving his team a key two-goal advantage that proved to be vital as Luton managed to equalize in the second half. While Watkins did not score the winning goal, his endeavors significantly helped to Villa’s victory and this has been a consistent pattern throughout the season.
During an interview with BBC Match of The Day, the aspiring England national team player expressed, “To claim that I am not contemplating the European Championship would be a falsehood.” I aim to maximize my goal-scoring tally. I perceive that I am engaging in that activity. I possess a strong belief in my abilities and I am now performing at my highest level in the sport of football.
“I have participated in Premier League football for several years.” I was excluded from the previous Euros squad due to my debut season in the Premier League.
